Zov's - Irvine, CA : Special Omelet

Zov's breakfast is yummy and is served until 2:30pm on weekends. I love omelettes so I tried Zov's Special Omelet. Delicious!

Zov's Special Omelet
Their omelet is very simple with tomato basil relish and feta cheese and comes with a hash brown cake and some berries. The Meat-eater though their hash brown cakes were kind of bland, but after adding some Tabasco sauce it was perfect. It could have been bland, but I added ketchup to mine and it was perfect for me. So I guess I prefer foods slightly less intense so that you can add flavors if you need to. It's easy to add a bit of ketchup or some sauce to your food, but you can't take away salt if your food is too salty, right? The omelet was good too, the cheese, basil and tomato flavors blended well together. Yum yum...will be back to try other foods!

Organic Veggies/Herbs on Sale at Whole Foods

Get your assorted organic veggies and herbs at Whole Foods for 99 cents! Sale going on right now! I picked up a few...it's a killer deal. They're normally $3.99 at full price.

Herbs and Veggies for 99 cents at Whole Foods
These were available at the Whole Foods at The District in Tustin. Supplies are limited, but there are a ton of tomato plants. I even saw a watermelon plant in there. Very few strawberries left. Not sure if this is going on at every Whole Foods, but it's worth a shot to take a look if you're interested right?

Also, the price didn't ring up correctly at the counter. So remember to look at the screen when they're ringing you up and let them know if it's wrong. They'll correct it for you! Get them while you can!

Mochilato - Irvine, CA

A nice warm day is the best time to have some ice-cream. Mochilato is basically a combination of mochi (glutinous rice desert) and gelato. I don't care much for mochi. I've had mochi ice-cream which is very good, but I prefer plain ice-cream...or in this case gelato. Good gelato is hard to come by here in the United States so I wanted to give it a try.

Raspberry
The raspberry was very fruity, pretty much like a sorbet. Not exactly creamy or chewy like a gelato should be.

Stracciatella
Stracciatella was also just ok. Both flavors were nothing impressive. They did not taste like gelato at all. Seems like it's been in the freezer a while and just tastes like plain ice-cream. Nothing special. Not worth it to me. Perhaps their mochi ice-creams are what you should get. For me, if you can't get the ice-cream right, then it's not worth it. Thumbs down for me in regards to flavor, texture, and price.

Mentatsu Ramen 麵逹 - Costa Mesa, CA : Veggie Eats

Around the corner and down the street from Mitsuwa is Mentatsu. Apparently their ramen is quite good, just not vegetarian friendly. They use a meat based broth, and fry their rice with lard. The only purely vegetarian items they had were salad and chilled tofu.

Salad and Tofu
So of course I chose both items. I do have to eat you know. While the Meat-Eater had some ramen, I had the above salad and tofu. It was really not too bad. The items were fresh and clean and it's quite healthy. Just that it's kind of the same everywhere, you know? So we didn't go back due to the lack of choices for the vegetarian. But you won't starve as you are able to eat something while the others feast on their ramen.
