Fast Food Eats : In-N-Out Burger - Grilled Cheese

There are times when your meat eating friend would like to just grab a burger. What can a vegetarian eat at a burger joint? Fear not. In-N-Out has an option for non-meat eaters......just order their Grilled Cheese!

Grilled Cheese on the left:

The Grilled Cheese pictured above includes cheese, lettuce, tomato, their spread, and grilled onions. You can ask for it any way you like. It's not the healthiest food...no fast food is really healthy...but it does taste pretty good. Now you can go to a burger joint with your meat eating friends and hang out without starving to death.

In-N-Out is only on the west coast. Similar to how White Castle is only on the east coast.

Boudin SF - Irvine, CA : Tomato Soup and Spring Salad

Highly recommended.

Known for their sourdough bread, Boudin originated in San Francisco. Sourdough is my favorite bread and is pretty much the only "white" bread I will eat. I've heard from people that have eaten at a Boudin in San Fran that the bread there had a more sour flavor than the ones eaten in Orange County. So in case you wanted a really sour bread...this is not it. But I do believe it is more sour than...say a year ago...or my taste buds are changing. Either way I come here for my favorite soup and salad combo.

Tomato Soup and Spring Salad

You can get the soup in a sourdough bread bowl instead of what is pictured above. I believe without the bread bowl you get more soup and you still get a bread roll. Simple meal with good flavors...and it's not too bad health wise either.

There is the Boudin Bakery & Cafe and Boudin SF in Orange County. The Boudin SF has a larger menu with options for all three meals of the day. (I will share breakfast from here with you in another post.)

The Lazy Dog Cafe - Irvine, CA : Orange Peel Tofu w/ Brown Rice

Highly recommended for dog lovers, vegetarians, meat eaters...everyone.

Technically you can bring your dog to any restaurant and sit in the patio...but some people may not like dogs and give you the evil eye as you eat. At The Lazy Dog Cafe we sat on the patio where it seemed everyone had a dog with them. This was a very dog friendly place.

You can see the blur of my dog's tail wagging happily as she makes friends with the dog at the next table.

Orange Peel Tofu w/ brown rice

I chose a Wok Plate. You choose which type of "meat" and flavor you want. You can also have brown rice. Kudos for brown rice! There are still many places that do not offer brown rice so this was a welcome relief. The food was pretty good. The tofu was fried in a very light batter and the sauce wasn't overpowering...pretty light for fried food...and there's plenty of broccoli. I've only been here once but hopefully will go again to try some of their other foods. They have a little bit of everything. You can check out their menu online. They have several locations in Southern California and hours are posted on their website.
